This exhibition brings together a new generation of artists connected to Leipzig—Gustav Sonntag, Kathrin Thiele, Sebastian Hosu, Rachel von Morgenstern, and Lorin Brockhaus—who continue a long and influential pictorial tradition shaped by the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst.

Without founding a new movement, they engage critically with the legacy of the Leipzig and New Leipzig Schools, combining strong technical discipline with personal experimentation. Through figurative painting, abstraction, material exploration, and sculptural installation, the exhibition reflects on what it means to be an artist in Leipzig today and affirms painting as an inexhaustible and evolving medium.
